CAAAA Honors Dr. Chang Chiu Chen at the “Herstory” Exhibition
On March 21, 2026, at Monterey Park Library, CAAAA Founding President Qiang Bjornbak presented a certificate of appreciation to attorney Chang Chiu Chen for her outstanding contribution to the “Herstory” exhibition.
CAAAA founding members Mayor Elizabeth Yang, Edward Ip, Esq., and Jia Li, Esq. also attended the event.

Good morning distinguished guests,
It is a great honor to be here today to recognize and celebrate Dr. Chang Chiu Chen for bringing the Herstory exhibit to Monterey Park.
This exhibit is far more than a historical presentation. It is a powerful tribute to courage, perseverance, and the often-overlooked contributions of Chinese American women who helped shape this nation. Through Dr. Chen’s vision, scholarship, and dedication, these stories are given the visibility and dignity they deserve.
From the landmark 1874 Supreme Court case involving Chinese women to today’s generation of judges, lawyers, community leaders, and elected officials, the Herstory exhibit reminds us that history is not only made by famous names in textbooks. It is also made by everyday individuals who dared to stand up for their rights, challenge injustice, serve their communities, and open doors for future generations.
By curating this exhibit, Dr. Chang Chiu Chen has preserved an essential part of our collective memory. She has helped us understand that the American story is richer, fuller, and more truthful when it includes the voices and struggles of Chinese American women. Their resilience did not simply benefit one community; it helped redefine the broader promise of justice, equality, and opportunity in America.
Dr. Chen’s work is especially meaningful here in Monterey Park, a city with deep ties to the Chinese American experience. Presenting this exhibit in this community allows us not only to honor the past, but also to inspire the present and future. It encourages young people to see themselves in history and to recognize that they, too, can become agents of change.
On behalf of all those who value truth, history, and the preservation of community legacy, I want to express my deepest appreciation to Dr. Chang Chiu Chen. Thank you for your tireless efforts in preserving the history of Chinese American legal and community pioneers. Thank you for ensuring that these stories will not be forgotten. And thank you for reminding us that the pursuit of justice is built, generation by generation, by brave individuals whose lives deserve to be remembered.

非常荣幸能在此与大家一同表彰邱彰博士，感谢她将“她的故事”展览带到蒙特利公园市。
此次展览远非一场历史陈述。它是对勇气与毅力的崇高致敬，展现了常常被忽视的美籍华裔女性为塑造这个国家所做出的贡献。凭借邱博士的远见、学识与奉献，这些故事获得了应有的瞩目与尊严。
从1874年涉及华裔女性的具有里程碑意义的最高法院案件，到当代的法官、律师、社区领袖和民选官员，“她的故事”展览提醒我们，历史不仅由教科书中的名人创造，也由那些敢于为权利挺身而出、挑战不公、服务社区并为后代开辟道路的普通个体书写。
